What's on in Manchester 2017?

If you are heading to our hotel near Manchester this year, then read our guide to the best events taking place in our great city and plan your trip accordingly to make the most of your stay

Manchester is home to some of the most interesting festivals and exhibitions in the UK. With this in mind, we have put together a list of the city’s best events that we are looking forward to checking out in 2017…

January

Ring in the Year of the Rooster with Chinese New Year in Manchester. Give your friends a red envelope stuffed with cash and watch the parade roll on by for a celebration to remember.

As it’s still a little nippy outside, it might be a good idea to head indoors and enjoy some entertainment from a comfortable seat in a warm theatre. Sound appealing? Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time is coming to Manchester and it is one show that is not to be missed.

February

One of the most famous bands to come out of the Rainy City is, of course, Oasis. Although some complain the city is a little too obsessed with these unruly brothers, we think a trip to the Oasis Exhibition is well worth your time.

Glitter balls? Dancing shoes? It can only mean one thing: Strictly Come Dancing Live is coming to Manchester Arena. Read about our ones to watch ahead of the event.

One of our nation’s greatest sporting successes, reflect on one of English football’s finest moments at the 1966 World Cup exhibition in Manchester this February.

March

Movie buff? Film fanatic? We have just the thing for you. Manchester Film Weekender is a great way to celebrate all things silver screen this spring, so book your tickets today.

The much-anticipated X Factor Live 2017 hits the city centre in March and we are excited to hear the finalists for ourselves. Who are you most looking forward to watching?

April

Although, sadly, Richard O’Brien himself won’t be there to guide you through each section, it’ll still be great fun to revisit The Crystal Maze with friends. A Saturday TV favourite of days gone by, book soon to avoid missing out.

May

After a sell-out visit last year, Brian Cox will be back for more this May. Discussing the inner-workings of the universe and taking us on an expedition through space and time, Brian Cox at MEN will not disappoint.

June

Manchester International Festival is a gorgeous celebration of the city’s diversity and culture. Enjoy a range of performances, workshops and talks at a range of venues across Manchester for a party to remember.

One of the UK’s best-known festivals, Parklife, returns to Manchester in June. Don’t fancy mucking in with fellow campers? Book a room at Waterside and head in for the music each day instead.
