Drinks at a bar

Planning a City Break in Manchester?

The team at our Manchester hotel bring you the best drinking spots to quench your thirst whilst exploring the city

Whether you’re here on business, spending hard earned cash at the shops or visiting on a group holiday, taking a break and quenching your thirst is probably going to be high on your list of priorities, but finding the perfect watering-hole can be time consuming.

To make things a little easier, the fun loving team at our hotel in Manchester have compiled this handy list of the best drinking spots in the city to help you on your merry way…

Cane And Grain

A hip New York-style bar, spread over three themed floors that make up a skate bar, a speakeasy, and a tiki heaven, this one is great for groups. For rum, ribs, bourbon and cocktails, visit this quirky bar, smack-bang in the middle of Manchester’s hip and happening Northern Quarter.

Walrus

After the ultimate relaunch, the Northern Quarter’s most unique and intimate cocktail bar is back. Inspired by the Beatles song, ‘I am the Walrus’, they have revamped their interiors and overhauled the food and drink menus, all the while managing to keep their laid-back attitude in tact. For cocktails that pack a punch, super food and great live music, head to the Walrus.

Dukes 92

Set in a former stable building with a balcony and terrace, the atmosphere at Dukes 92 is not to be missed. Great whether it’s day or night, the venue effortlessly transforms from a relaxed drinking and eating destination into a lively and buzzing bar in the evening. The terrace is the bar’s crowning glory that really comes to life in the warmer months, with plenty of space for outdoor drinking.

Black Dog Ballroom New Wakefield Street

For a night out with friends, head over to Black Dog Ballroom on New Wakefield Street and sample a tipple from their extensive menu of cocktails, beers, wines and spirits. Looking for somewhere to have ‘just one more drink’? The Ballroom is open until 4am on school nights and even later on the weekend, meaning it’s the go-to place after the rest of the bars in the Northern Quarter have kicked out their punters.

We hope this handy list helps you make the most of your stay. If you need somewhere to stay whilst exploring the wonders of this vibrant city, book into our Manchester hotel for a warm and comfortable night’s rest, close to all the action. What’s more, you can always start the night at our very own newly revamped bar before heading off into the big city.
