How to Throw the Perfect Party – The Waterside Way

The experts from our top Manchester party venue and hotel share their helpful tips for planning and throwing a seamless and enjoyable event.

If you are organising a party for the first time and aren’t sure where to start, you have come to the right place. With our years of experience in hospitality, we at Waterside have put together some helpful advice to ensure 1your event runs as smoothly as possible, whilst maintaining that all-important element of fun.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail

When it comes to throwing a successful event, planning is key and (believe it or not) behind every good party lies some sort of schedule, budget and checklist, as well as someone in charge behind the scenes. Do all of the above to make it work.

Manage your guest list

Ensure you send your invitations out weeks ahead of the event as diaries tend to get filled up pretty quickly. Also, always include an RSVP so you don’t overspend on the alcohol or hors d’oeuvre.

Cater to everyone

Whether its vegan, vegetarian or peanut allergy requirements which need to meet, make sure you have considered everybody’s needs and catered to them ahead of the day – you don’t want anybody to go home hungry or feeling anything less than special.

Provide a warm welcome

Whether you choose to do it with champagne, a signature cocktail or delectable canapes, ensure your guests’ hands aren’t empty on arrival. Also, consider dimming the lights or adorning the place in candles for a more intimate arrival.

Sort out the music

There is nothing worse than getting to a party to find there’s no music for you to dance to, or at the very least, provide background noise to your conversation. Source a DJ well in advance to avoid a musical catastrophe.

Entertain the little ones

If children are invited, you must make it a suitable event by providing a child-friendly table, food and kids entertainer in order to allow the adults to kick back, relax and enjoy themselves.

Personalise your party

Now you have covered the basics, have some fun and inject a little life – and personality – into the occasion to avoid a stunted and stale event with:

A party theme

An outlandish dress code or fancy dress suggestion

A ‘dress your own dessert’ table

The option to play some games

An adult entertainer – think magician, comedian or singer

A self-service bar

Party favours, polaroid pictures or photo booth reels for guests to take home with them

Alternatively, if you choose the right Manchester party venue, they are likely to do all the hard work for you.
