Have Some Fun this Season with our Top 5 Family-Friendly Activities in the Local Area

Keep the little ones entertained on your trip to our hotel in Didsbury with these fantastic family-friendly pursuits this spring.

Our team here at the Waterside know our local area inside out, and with so much to offer – from beautiful countryside walks and nature adventures, to top city days out and our child-friendly Didsbury restaurant – there’s no better place to rest your head on your next staycation in the UK.

If you are looking to enjoy some fun with your family this spring, read on for our favourite five…

Heaton Park

Being the Northwest’s ‘biggest and best park’ at 600 acres, Heaton is heaving with extra special activities for the little ones, providing the perfect place for the kids to run wild. The national park’s vast space features children’s play areas, trains, boating lakes, a golf course and three full sized football pitches, and if this energetic expanse still isn’t enough for you, then the newest Treetop Trek adventure will have you swinging, climbing and flying through the air in no time.

If all that excitement has tuckered you out after a day in the park, enjoy a more relaxing and leisurely route home through the wonderful woodland walks where there are stunning views and plenty of wildlife. But don’t forget to stop and talk to Heaton’s hairiest residents at The Old Stables – from alpacas, chickens, cows and goats, there’s plenty of friends to be made at the park.

Chester Zoo

Spring has sprung and has brought with it some baby orangutans and giraffes, as well as some freaky and squeaky bizarre new species to say hello to, and with daily animal talks, zoo-wide challenges and even training camps to help your children become Junior Rangers. With over 15,000 of the world’s most exotic animals here, why not head over to meet them all in their 125 acres of award-winning gardens?

CBBC Tour at MediaCityUK

Bring your children’s favourite CBBC characters to life with a behind the scenes trip to the CBBC interactive tour at MediaCityUK in Salford. Home to much-loved programmes like Blue Peter and Newsround, let your children discover what it takes to produce a TV show and give them the perfect opportunity to do some presenting of their own – they might even get a chance to work behind the cameras, too. These extremely popular tours last about an hour and a half and there are plenty of photo opportunities along the way, so don’t forget your cameras.

Museum of Science and History

An exceptional day out for kids and adults alike, discover and explore the mesmerising mix of science, industry and history being brought to life through interactive exhibitions, lively shows, daily demonstrations and hands on experiments at the museum. There’s always something new to learn at the museum’s popular workshops, weekend activities and festivals running throughout the season. Book tickets to avoid missing out.

Chill Factore

Watch in awe as Manchester’s Chill Factore brings the Alpine ski village experience to the UK for the first time. Little ones can explore the magical children’s snow play area and enhance theirs skills at snow school, with professionals on hand to guide them on the slopes – from nursery runs to the UK’s longest real snow slope. If you are an avid thrill seeker, whizz down the snowy slopes, throw yourself down the incredible ice luge slides or conquer the icey 12 meter climbing wall.

You will never be short of family adventure during your weekend stay at the Waterside hotel in Didsbury.
